The end of an era is represented by the recently fallen barn near Barons, Alberta, Canada. We think the barn was constructed a little over a hundred years ago. It has stood empty for a number of years as the farmstead has not had residents for quite some time.
I have always enjoyed art in its many forms. Up until about fifteen years ago, my main passion was for creating art through textiles - I love to quilt. I have often joked that I took up photography in self-defense (my husband is an avid photographer) but that is not really true as I do enjoy making images. The past few years have taken my husband and me to many different places in the world and the sights that we have seen and photographed have been very humbling. What a wonderous world we have and I hope that through my images, I enable others to see and maybe even feel a tiny bit of that wonderous world.

Congratulations, Vivian, on your feature in Nikon Users Photography. I find this so sad, poignant, and beautiful--a reminder to many of special barns they have known and loved. "For everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven."
Vivian Christopher replied:
Hi Connie. Thank you for your comments and congratulations. I appreciate them. Yes, it is sad to see some of these beautiful and historical structures deteriorate. Farming has changed in this community - not many of the small family farms left and may of the old farmsteads have been bulldozed.
